Steve Hayes
Consultant ENT Surgeon
Mr. Steve Hayes is a Consultant ENT surgeon with a broad expertise in general ENT, while specialising in rhinology (nose & sinuses) and lacrimal (tear duct) conditions. He is particularly adept at managing complex sinus diseases, including nasal polyp disease, structural nasal defects, and sinus tumours. Mr. Hayes is also actively engaged in research, focusing on the use of monoclonal antibiotics for patients with severe nasal polyps, running a Biological treatment practice with the Respiratory team at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
Training
Mr Hayes’ ENT registrar training was based in the Wessex Region, working alongside eminent Surgeons across Hampshire, Dorset and South East Wiltshire. He undertook a Rhinology Research Fellowship at the University Hospital Southampton and the University of Southampton.
Mr Hayes undertook a Doctorate in Philosophy and was awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton in June 2018.
Mr Hayes was awarded the British Rhinology Society / Olympus Advanced Rhinology Training Fellowship in October 2019 providing advanced personalised training in Advanced Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and Anterior Skull Base surgery. He was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in October 2020.
Rhinology
Mr Hayes is a fully trained general adult and paediatric ENT surgeon, subspecialising in Rhinology and lacrimal surgery and provides consultations and treatment plans either medical or surgical for the following conditions:
Complex sinus disease, nasal polyps, nasal blockage, allergic & intrinsic rhinitis, snoring, septal deviations, dental causes of sinus disease, chronic facial pain, obstructive sleep apnoea.
Lacrimal (Tear Gland) conditions
Excessing tearing (watery eyes) can be due to many factors and conditions. Working with an oculoplastic consultant surgeon Mr Hayes will be able to assess the reason for the watering and provide an appropriate management plan to treat the problem.
Paediatric ENT
Recurrent tonsillitis, glue ear, coanal atresia (blocked nasal tissue) repair. Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Septoplasty Turbinoplasty operations. Dacryocystorhinostomy (blocked tear duct surgery), Grommet insertion, tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy.
